The last week of Gymboree:

We did in fact make it to KY- eventually. My plan was to leave Dec 7- but I got food poisoning/a really bad flu and postponed it to Dec 15. Went to the airport the 15th, waited at my gate for my 11:40 flight… until 2ish when they told us a 3:30 departure would be looking on the bright side… My flight from Chicago to Louisville was the last of the day, so I would be stranded in Chicago for the night. I decided it would be better to just go home and stay at my own house (for free instead of paying $100+ to stay in a hotel) and try again tomorrow. I rescheduled for the 6:45am flight out of OC, arrived at the airport at 5:15am, waited at the gate for about an hour, then boarded the plane. And sat… and sat… and sat some more. There was a mechanical problem with the plane and they advised us that if we chose to get off the plane they could not guarantee we would be allowed back on board. So we sat… and then got up… and wandered the aisles. We finally did take off- 2 hours and 59 min late. My original connection was 30 min- so obviously I missed that one, and took the next one allowing us a bit of time to eat and use the restroom. We finally made it in to Louisville around 8, and my brother picked us up and drove us to Lexington. It’s been a great trip so far, and I’m starting to adjust to the cold. It’s weird to look at the temp gauge and see “4″ as the temp outside- BRRR! I will post some pics once I get them on the computer!
Things have been quiet on the blog, but they sure haven’t been here at home!! We went to my parent’s house for Thanksgiving which was wonderful. It took us 11 hours to get there on Wednesday, which was quite tiring, but the visit was nice and relaxing. When we came back, I had only a week to get ready for my trip to Kentucky. I had scheduled many things that week, including 2 trips to Disneyland, a trip to the dentist, a hair appointment, errands, laundry, and packing. Things were going along as planning until after my first trip to Disneyland on Wednesday. I was awakened at 4am with a horrible stomach ache. Things were quite icky here for a while- I will spare you the details. Anyway, Mike had to stay home Thursday and Friday to take care of Jordan as I was incapable of even making a cup of soup, or even keeping one down. I went to the Dr. on Thursday and got 2 meds that didn’t really work, so on Friday he gave me an antibiotic. That worked quite well, so I was starting to feel better on Saturday, but had not packed, or even touched my homework, so I decided to postpone my Kentucky trip. I’m quite glad I did, too, because I was still pretty weak on Sunday. Now the plan is to leave on Mon, Dec 15, and my return remains the same. I’ll be done with the meds by then, and that gives me time to pack, do laundry, run errands, etc. I’ve already packed our gift suitcase, and I’m hoping to be able to pack the clothes slowly as I get laundry done, so I won’t have all of it to do on Sunday night. I’ll try to upload pictures this week, but I’m not sure that will happen. I have a pretty steep load of school work this week, too.
Yesterday I uploaded all the pics from the past few weeks. We’ve taken 2 trips to Disneyland, played at Gymboree, almost gotten evacuated due to a fire, and danced around the living room.

It’s hard to see, but that hill is where the fire jumped over the freeway. We live on the opposite side of that hill. It got less than 2 miles from our house, but thankfully not any closer.

Second trip to Disneyland in a month! We focused on Characters more this trip- met Tinkerbell, and the Chipmunks, and also rode Autopia for the first time!

Just a couple of minutes ago I was sitting here on the couch, working on my school work while Jordan played nicely in the livingroom. I guess she wandered into her room, which she does frequently, but I hadn’t noticed. Anyway, all of the sudden I hear a big “thud”, then hear SCREAMING coming from her room. I ran faster than I knew was humanly possible as this was not a normal scream. When I opened her door, she said that Spats, our very large (almost 20 lbs) cat had pushed her off the bed. When I looked at her face, I saw that she was covered in blood- pretty much from under her nose all down her mouth and chin, down her neck, and all over her hands. I wasn’t sure where all the blood was coming from, and I sensed an impending trip to emergency room, but I very calmly took her into the bathroom, removed her shirt and began to wipe off the blood to find the source. I couldn’t find any more blood after wiping it all off until I asked her to open her mouth- there it was! All her teeth were pink, and there was a red line all around her teeth. I quickly checked to make sure she had all her teeth- thankfully she did. None looked chipped, or loose. I asked her to point to what hurt, and she pointed to that little piece of skin that attaches to the upper gums, which has a very small cut on it. I can’t imagine such a small cut making so much blood, but I guess mouth injuries are pretty icky. Anyhoo- she seems fine now, but it was a small little panic for me a few minutes ago!
I’ll write about the fire later. Suffice it to say we are safe, and the fire is now completely contained. I’ll post pics and the story later.
